Twisted

Research | Woodworking
After investigating traditional joinery practices used by the Shakers, I reconstructed a late 19th-century wooden hay fork, staying as true to their process as I possibly could.

After embodying these traditional practices, I deconstructed the tool to its principal elements and formally re-envisioned it.

I transformed the three-tine hay fork into a curvilinear three-spike form using a similar visual language but introducing steam-bending as an additional process.
